IPTV on Samsung Smart TV.
Tizen is not Android. App selection is limited, IPTV support varies by model year, and TiviMate does not run here. The honest path: check Smart Hub first, then consider an external stick.
01
Tizen reality check.
Samsung Smart TVs run Tizen, a proprietary OS. It is not Android. You cannot sideload APKs the way you can on a Firestick. You cannot install TiviMate. The app catalogue is what Samsung approves for the Smart Hub, full stop.
Samsung does not openly publish a full Tizen developer SDK for third-party IPTV apps, so coverage is thinner than Fire TV or Android TV. Apps that exist on Tizen may not be available in every region or on every model year.
This is not a knock on Samsung TVs as displays. The panels are excellent. It is just an honest statement about the software limitations. Many Samsung TV owners run their IPTV from a stick attached to the TV rather than from the TV itself.
02
Smart Hub apps.
From your Samsung TV home screen, open Apps (the grid icon in the task bar). Search for IPTV Smarters Pro or SS IPTV. If they appear, install as normal.
SS IPTV is a Tizen-specific IPTV player that has been available on Samsung Smart Hub for several years. It supports M3U playlists and XMLTV EPG. It is not as feature-rich as TiviMate but it works without any workarounds.
03
Install an IPTV app.
- 01
Open Smart Hub Apps
Press Home on the Samsung remote. Select Apps from the bottom bar. You get a search field at the top.
- 02
Search for your IPTV player
Try "SS IPTV" or "IPTV Smarters". If results appear, select and install. Note: availability depends on your region and TV model year.
- 03
Open the app and add a playlist
SS IPTV: Settings icon → Playlist → Add playlist → enter M3U URL. IPTV Smarters: Add user → Xtream Codes or M3U. Enter your provider credentials.
- 04
Add EPG URL
In SS IPTV, go to Settings → EPG and paste your EPG URL. In Smarters the EPG may load from Xtream automatically. Allow a few minutes for the guide to populate.
04
External stick: the honest path.
If Smart Hub does not have the app you need, the cleanest solution is a Fire TV Stick 4K Max (~$60) or a Chromecast with Google TV (~$50) plugged into any HDMI port. Switch input to use it.
On the stick you get TiviMate, IPTV Smarters, or any other Android/Fire OS player with full feature parity. The stick is also replaceable when it ages out without changing the TV.
For Firestick setup specifically, see the Firestick setup guide. For Android TV, see the Android TV setup guide.

FAQ
Can I install TiviMate on Samsung Smart TV?
No. TiviMate is Android-only and does not run on Tizen. Samsung Smart TVs use the Tizen OS and can only install apps from the Samsung Smart Hub. The workaround is attaching a Fire TV Stick or Android TV box to an HDMI port.
What IPTV apps are available on Samsung Smart Hub?
IPTV Smarters Pro and SS IPTV have Tizen builds available in some regions. Availability varies by Samsung TV model year and region. Older Tizen builds (2017 and earlier) have fewer compatible apps.
My Samsung TV is too old for current IPTV apps. What do I do?
Attach a Fire TV Stick 4K or a Chromecast with Google TV to an HDMI port. Both are under $50 and run any IPTV player. Your Samsung TV becomes the display; the stick does the work.
Does IPTV work with the Samsung TV browser?
HLS streams can technically play in the Samsung browser, but it is not reliable and has no guide or EPG. It is a last resort for testing a URL, not a daily use path.
Which Samsung TVs support 4K HDR on IPTV?
Any Samsung QLED or UHD model from 2018 onward supports HDR10 and HDR10+. Samsung TVs do not support Dolby Vision. For 4K HDR IPTV, a connected stick or box often handles decoding more reliably than the built-in Tizen player.
